What is the Yellow Fever card & Rule?

World Health Organization (WHO) has issued guidelines for all passengers who travelling to yellow fever affected countries. and yellow fever affected countries citizen traveling to worldwide must be fallow yellow fever guidelines.

Require Proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination from travelers

  • Coming from a country with yellow fever risk card
  • Having transited (more than 12 hours) through such a country.
  • Visiting for entry or even transit in certain cases.

Issue the Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (IHR Yellow Card)

  • Proof of vaccination valid for life (as of 2016, per WHO update).
  • Must be administered at least 10 days before travel

If you are traveling from a yellow fever risk country (even as a transit passenger), some destinations will

  • Deny entry without proof of vaccination.
  • Quarantine or isolate unvaccinated travelers

If you are arriving in India from a Yellow Fever risk country (even via transit (12 hours), you must present a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate

  • Travelers coming from or transiting through (12 hours) countries with risk of yellow fever transmission (parts of Africa, South America)
  • This includes Indian citizens returning from those countries.

Vaccination Validity

  • The certificate is valid for life, starting 10 days after vaccination.

What Happens Without the Certificate?

  • You may be quarantined for up to 6 days at the port of entry
  • This applies to adults and children >6 months old
